Teen Horse Connection
A safe place for teens to slow down, connect, and simply be themselves.
Not every teen needs another appointment.
Not every teen is ready to talk.
Sometimes they just need a place where they feel welcome, accepted, and seen.
Teen Horse Connection sessions at DreamCatchers provide a quiet, supportive environment where teens can spend time with horses and a caring adult who believes in them.
Through time with the horses, conversation, and moments of simply being present, teens have the opportunity to build confidence, practice self-awareness, and experience connection in a way that feels natural.
What does a session look like?
Every teen is different, so each session is guided by what they need that day.
A session may include:
- Spending time with the horses
- Grooming, observing, and connecting with the horses
- Ground-based activities
- Quiet time in the pasture
- Conversation and reflection
- Building confidence through relationship and trust
There is no pressure to perform, share more than they are ready to share, or have a “breakthrough.”
Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen while brushing a horse, sitting quietly, or realizing there is a place where you belong.
Who is this for?
Teen Horse Connection may be a good fit for teens (ages 13-19) who:
- Need a safe space outside of home or school
- Are navigating stress, change, or life transitions
- Would benefit from connection with a caring adult
- Need opportunities to build confidence and trust
- Feel more comfortable connecting through activities rather than traditional conversation
What this is (and what it isn’t)
Teen Horse Connection is not therapy and is not a substitute for professional mental health care. It is not a program designed for those with developmental, behavioral or physical needs.
Instead, it is a supportive experience focused on connection, confidence, and personal growth — with horses as partners in creating a safe and welcoming environment.
For parents, grandparents, counselors, and caring adults
Sometimes the teens who need support the most are the ones who don’t know how to ask for it.
If there is a teen in your life who could benefit from a place to breathe, connect, and be themselves, we invite you to reach out.
